Socio-territorial contemporary processes include new phenomena going beyond the urban scope. As they are heterogeneous and discontinuous, they are understood as a stage after the metropolis. In the Metapolis, as the sum of existing cities, is built and developed by spaces and projects not necessarily contiguous, but strongly dependent on each other. Analyzing the study case Gran La Plata Region from such perspective is to consider it a part of the metapolitan territory. With the city of Buenos Aires as the center, it covers extensive / intensive urban and rural areas. In this context, the concept of landscape is a useful tool to interpret situations resulting from metapolisation which produces environmental degradation through processes of segregation, fragmentation and concentration. This work proposes the order, design and management of landscape, from an inclusive perspective defining criteria for analysis and intervention. This methodology suggests knowing regional landscape through three dimensions: physical variables, historical development and people valuation. Identification of landscape units at the territorial level (macro-landscapes) is aimed at including the whole metapolitan territory in the study case. The metapolitan landscape are considered today a testing ground for policies, strategies and projects aimed not only at protecting natural areas, but also at recovering the value of humanized landscape in terms of economic dynamism, social and cultural development. Building from an inclusive perspective aimed at sustainable development is only possible through the recognition, interpretation and enhancement of landscape as a global approach. |
