Radiumtherapy is each time more utilized in the struggle against cancer, whether as exclusif treatment or associated to the surgery or to the other different forms of the anticancerous treatment. Surgery is only effective, says Holfelder, if by means of operation we can get radical elimination of every cancerous cellule. On the contrary, new pushes, relapses and metastasis will appear short time after operation. Radiumtherapy may destroy the malignant lesion constatable and visible without leaving depriment mutilations; it also can attack and destroy invisible lesions and those which are microscopie far away focal process, without being constraint to determined topographic limits as surgery is. Surgery removes cancer and nothing else, radiumtherapy stimulates immunity phenomenons against cancer and that which is of vital importance for the treatment, radiations excersice a favourable influence over biological terrene, modifying internal mean, especially in that which refers to the colesterine, as it is proved with the interesting experiences made in this Institute. Le cancer, nous le savons bien, n’est pas une affection incurable et le porcentage de survivants ou guérisons définitives est du au diagnostique précoce et á l’opportunité qu’on a indiqué le traitement. La radiumthérapie est utilisée de plus en plus dans la lutte contre le cancer, bien comme traitement exclusif ou associé á la chirurgie ou aux autres formes distinctes du traitement anti-can- cereux. Holfelder dit que la chirurgie est efficace seulement si á cause de l’opération on obtient l’élimination radicale de toutes les cellules cancereuses. Au contraire, de nouvelles pousséees, des rechutes et des métastases apparaitront peu de temps aprés l’intervention. La radiumthérapie peut détruire la lésion maligne constata- ble et visible, sans laisser des mutilations déprimentes; elle peut aussi attaquer et détruire les lésions invisibles et celles micros- copiques plus loin du procés focal sans étre contreint á déter- minés limites topographiques comme est la chirurgie. La chirurgie éloigne le cancer et rien de plus, la radiumthérapie stimule les phenoménes de Fimmunité contre le cancer et ce qui est de vital importance pour le traitement, les radiations excercent une influence favorable sur le terrain biologique, en modifiant le médium interne, spécialement dans ce qui se rap- * porte á la cholestérine, comme on peut le vérifier par les inté- ressantes expériences que se réalisent dans cet Instituí (A.
