Sumario:This paper explores the direct effect of increasing education on the levels of earnings inequality by carrying out microsimulations for the Latin American countries. We find that the direct effect of the increase in education experienced by the region in the last two decades was unequalizing, and that this result is expected to hold for future improvements in education, a fact that is closely linked to the convexity of the returns to education.
