In South America, this phenomenon took place in the Andean section of Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina and culminated with the expansion and conquest of the Inca Empire or Tawantinsuyu, starting in the 15th century. The Incas invaded and conquered the northern half of Chile, the Andean Northwest of Argentina and the Cuyo area, which became part of that State.
