Zool. 52: 297-324) subsequently described Phaenobezzia, based on the above mentioned character being diagnostic for this genus, which is also characteristic of the more distantly related genus Nilobezzia, where Wirth (1974, Mus. Zool. Univ. Sao Paulo 14: 1-89) placed B. ateles. Spinelli & Wirth (1986, Florida Entomol. 69 (1): 231-236), in their revision of the Neotropical Phaenobezzia, overlooked Macfie's publication, and consequently did not consider B. ateles as a possible species of Phaenobezzia.
