At higher potentials the electrodissolution of the base metal takes place. Side reactions occurring there make the overall process rather complex. The electrochemical behaviours of the Au/SCN<sup>−</sup> (DMSO) and Au/SCN<sup>−</sup> (ACN) are compared.
