| Sumario: | This work was carried out in the department of chemistry of the University of El Valle, Cali, Colombia. Twenty-one teachers expressed their opinions, feelings and judgments regarding the use of analogies. Based on the results, four types of teachers were proposed: the enthusiasts, the pragmatic, the reflexive, the reluctant.
