These new ways to be a man were confronted and combined with the 'macho' stereotype. In this paper, through actor’s images and narratives, are analyzed how the ideals of a "porfiriano modern man" were created (clean, polite, hardworking and good father) and how these ideals had a profound impact on the masculinities of a men working group in Guadalajara, the tramways workers, who represented a key to the development of the city.
