description	This article studies the behavior of the main social indicators of Venezuela during the Hugo Chavez Administration; that is between 1999 and 2014. It will analyze the planned Welfare State, implemented by the Bolivarian government of Chavez. It concludes that beyond the changes occurring in social policy, the prevailing social patterns didn’t change since the 1980s, when Venezuela found itself in crisis. There is a conclusive evidence showing that rather than fixing the most pressing social issues of the majority, some of those issues have worsened. In the first part, it is explained briefly some predominant factors related to society and the Bolivarian Welfare State. In the second one, relying on the most important social indicators, it is provided an evaluation of the practices encouraged in this period.
