description The self-managing enterprises are represented mainly in the 90s, an alternative to workers who lost their jobs due to closure of companies during this period as a result of the new foreign trade policies adopted by the federal government. Such enterprises, which are organized in the form of commercial companies or civil self-managed by workers themselves of bankrupt companies, have also represented an alternative to conventional business models and for some authors, the possibility of social transformation through the creation of new values and practices that result in "self-governing society." Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the influence of values and practices of self-management in daily life of workers, especially during so-called "free time" in not becoming involved in activities related to enterprises. To this was done a case study of workers at two self-managed enterprises, through interviews based on a script of pre-defined questions, was observed that, in the sample studied, the activities performed during free time are similar to those performed by workers of conventional enterprises.
