description This study observes the journalistic coverage of the 2012 Federal electoral campaign celebrated in México. The objective of this study was to identify the journalistic coverage given by a group of newspapers from different regions in the country. Identifying the equity with which they conducted themselves, the thematic remarked in their contents and the presentation of the ideological platform of every candidate was important for this study. Supported by content analysis, results demonstrate that the journals shown little attention to this event. In general terms, it was also found that some media tried to favor PRI candidate overthe rest of the competitors. Respecting the electoral platform presentation, it can be concluded that the information quality was poor, especially for the superficiality with which campaignrelated topics were handled and the limited attention given to core issues of Mexico.
