Considering all of the above and rigorously analyzing its historical antecedents, the Costa Rican philosopher Arnoldo Mora outlines in this essay the challenges facing the human race today, including the construction of a new international order. A partir de la caída del Muro de Berlín, el mundo ha sido dominado por Occidente. Toda otra cultura, por más antigua (Oriente) o militante (Islam) que sea, no es ahora más que una cultura periférica. Ante el expansionismo del capital transnacional y su imperio sin fronteras, las economías de subsistencia desaparecen y el Estado-Nación entra en crisis.
