This paper aims to contribute to the history of water access normalization in urban spaces. It studies the relationships between drinking water, modern urban spaces informing and sanitary conditions among Medellín’s population between 1886 (when State and population governments starts strengthening), and 1913, when the first modern water system project was approved. This last milestone is a break in urban modernization process, since it is here that a real control of clean and used water flowing begin, to counterbalance the continuous sanitary crises due to using polluted water. Scarcely or not-at-all used documentary sources were studied, and already-known sources were re-read. |
