Thus, this reflection enquiresinto the memories that built this figureand some of the expansion trajectories of devotion.Likewise, it analyzes how this icon updatesand recreates myths, foundation of thenational identity, and alternate representationschemes from multiple appropriation processes.The information used in this text comesfrom three field works carried out in January2010, 2011, and 2012, during the Gaucho Gilfestivities in Mercedes, Corrientes; additionalto the analysis of images and several differentcirculating documents.
