In this study we assessed the underlying structure of the GDMSI in a sample from Argentina and compared a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) model with a more flexible model that combines exploratory and confirmatory parts, the exploratory structural equation modeling (ESEM) approach. In general, the results support the construct validity of the GDMSI and confirm the potential and superiority of the ESEM procedures to assess the relationship between the items and the underlying dimensions, compared to more restrictive models.
