I15-R240-article-19562025-09-04T13:37:26Z A case study of participatory action research in Latin American countries Un estudio de caso de investigación-acción participativa en países de América Latina Millón, Emilia educación sexual infancias metodologías de investigación acción participativas sexual education childhood participatory action research methodologies The aim of this paper is to contribute to the experiences, critiques, and debates surrounding participatory action research strategies in the field of childhood and adolescence, based on a case study conducted in 2022. In this research, the educational and pedagogical roles, along with the recognition of participants as subjects of rights rather than objects of study, were central to the fieldwork. Consequently, the methodological design required careful consideration of multiple dimensions and active consultation with the participants themselves. The research was part of a broader project on sexual education developed by the Southern Coalitions Network across Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Venezuela, and Uruguay. It aimed to assess the level of knowledge and access to sexual education in each of these countries. This paper specifically analyzes the participatory workshops designed for children and adolescents. The tools proved effective and yielded key insights into advancing the sexual and reproductive rights of children and young people in the region.
