In particular, this article review debates and challenges raised by the agendas of the education government authorities that were in charge in the province during the first two administrations since the return of democracy in 1983: the administration of Alejandro Armendáriz of the Radical Party and Antonio Cafiero of the Justicialist Party. The aim of this paper is to reconstruct, from the perspective of policy makers, initiatives or ideas that marked the ideological and programmatic position of these successive administrations. Likewise, it is proposed to identify which were the main restrictions found for those in the education government to carry out these initiatives. Este trabajo forma parte de una investigación que se focaliza en la reconstrucción de algunas políticas del sector social en la provincia de Buenos Aires en el período 1983-2015. En particular, esta presentación se circunscribe a los debates y desafíos que sustentaron las agendas de las autoridades del gobierno de la educación que estuvieron a cargo en la provincia durante las dos primeras gestiones desde el retorno de la democracia en 1983: la administración radical de Alejandro Armendáriz y la justicialista de Antonio Cafiero. El artículo se centra en reconstruir desde el registro de los decisores de las políticas, cuáles fueron las iniciativas o ideas fuerza que marcaron la toma de posición ideológica y programática de estas sucesivas administraciones. Asimismo, se propone identificar cuáles resultaron, para quienes estaban en el gobierno de la educación, las principales restricciones encontradas para llevar adelante esas iniciativas.
