Sumario:This article is part of a growing and renewed production around the modernity in between XIX-XX centuries. For this, in the first instance, we discuss debate the metadiscourse around modernity in order to replace the importance of analyzing the "really existing" configurations between cultural practices, social actors and modernity projects. Derived from this, in a second moment, we reconstructed the latest advances in the pragmatic turn and we problematized. This, allows us the possible to make the externalist visions more complex to the processes and to emphasize the links between action and context. From this turn, in the last section we present a series of reading keys to address Argentine culture at the beginning of the 20th century, placing emphasis on the tension between modernization projects and the experiences of modernity in an era signed by the acceleration of socio-political changes and the search to stabilize a system of cultural classifications that gives readability to practices
