| Sumario: | This paper deals with Brazilian oligarchic federalism in the period corresponding to its First Republic (1889-1930), in which we focuses the process of construction and consolidation of the new regime, the main pillars of its operation, as well as try to analyse the decision making processes, based on the analysis of the electoral processes. Supported by a more recent bibliography and by new empirical sources, the article aims to propose a differentiated view about the regime, when compared to earlier more consolidated approaches. |
