En el siguiente artículoefectuamos un ejercicio analítico en torno a los registros fotográficosque componen el álbum Recuerdos de Buenos Ayres de Esteban Gonnet (1864). Atendiendo a los posibles usos de estos documentos iconográficosy buscando explotar el potencial heurístico de los mismos, nos interrogamos sobre la posibilidad de concebir estos testimonios visuales como relatos de experiencias vitalespor parte de los habitantes porteños en vínculo con el contexto de modernizaciónimperante en la ciudad de Buenos Aires a mediados de la década de 1860.
