First, we will describe the role assumed by this evening paper as a "political agent". Next, we will focus on the causes that led to break off relations with the Socialist Party, led by Juan B. Justo. This will allow us to understand the "supreme" effort and interest, projected by Natalio Botana's newspaper to help the independent socialists to achieve the desired goal: to be the first deputies' minority in the federal Capital. El presente artículo tiene por objetivo analizar la cobertura editorial que realizó el diario “Crítica” en las elecciones legislativas en favor del Partido Socialista Independiente, en 1928. Primeramente describiremos el rol asumido por este vespertino como “agente político”. A continuación, nos centraremos en las causas que llevaron a romper relaciones con el Partido Socialista, liderado por Juan B. Justo. Esto nos permitirá entender el “supremo” esfuerzo e interés, proyectado por el periódico de Natalio Botana, para que los socialistas independientes consigan el objetivo tan deseado: ser la primera minoría de diputados en la Capital Federal.
