Mitre and V. F. López, but also from the appearance of stories that called into question a series of assumptions defended by those. The most well-known case is the History of Rozas by A. Saldías, a work that although it reproduced the porteño look, became original and controversial when revalue a personage until then reviled. However, there were other discourses emanating from the provinces which, at various points, implied an interpretative novelty. Focusing on the History of López of Ramón Lassaga, I intend here to trace those elements present in the context that opens after the fall of Rosas that allow us to understand the appearance in 1881 of works that, within the liberal tradition, imply a revision regarding to the "great stories". En 1881 se produjeron tensiones y polémicas sobre el pasado argentino, no sólo en lo que refiere al debate entre B. Mitre y V. F. López, sino también a partir de la aparición de relatos que pusieron en cuestión una serie de supuestos defendidos por aquellos. El caso más conocido es el de la Historia de Rozas de A. Saldías, obra que si bien reproducía la mirada porteña, se tornó original y polémica al revalorizar un personaje hasta entonces denostado. Sin embargo, existieron otros discursos emanados desde las provincias que, en diversos puntos, implicaron una novedad interpretativa. Centrándome en la Historia de López de Ramón Lassaga, me propongo aquí rastrear aquellos elementos presentes en el contexto que se abre tras la caída de Rosas que permitan entender la aparición en 1881 de obras que, al interior de la tradición liberal, implican una revisión respecto a los “grandes relatos”.
