However, rather than respond to a simple operation of distraction, the World Cup served the government of the Armed Forces to create a story based on the political and ideological principles that guided and justified their coup deed as the government established from this latest. The work of Renan does nothing more than give an audiovisual expression to this story that testifies to the new Argentina that the Armed Forces believed to be materialized during June 1978. La película-documental “La fiesta de todos” de Sergio Renán ha sido catalogada por muchos analistas como una mera obra propagandística en favor de la última dictadura, sustentada en la utilización que la Junta Militar hizo de la conquista del Mundial ’78 de fútbol para encubrir la represión ilegal que estaba llevando a cabo. Sin embargo, más que responder a una simple operación de distracción, el Mundial sirvió al gobierno de las Fuerzas Armadas para crear un relato apoyado en los principios político e ideológicos que guiaron y justificaron su accionar golpista como al gobierno de facto instaurado a partir de este último. La obra de Renán no hace otra cosa que darle una expresión audiovisual a ese relato que da testimonio de la nueva Argentina que las Fuerzas Armadas creyeron ver materializada durante junio de 1978.
