La Asociación Bernardino Rivadavia de Bahía Blanca: reformismo, distinción social y configuración urbana (1882-1930) Agesta, María de las Nieves asociacionismo cultural reformismo distinción social configuración territorial Bahía Blanca cultural asociacionism reformism social distinction territorial configuration Bahía Blanca This article proposes to examine the cultural promotion and dissemination activities carried out by the Asociación Bernardino Rivadavia of the town of Bahía Blanca (province of Buenos Aires) between 1882 -- its foundation -- and 1930, when a new building and the expansion of its facilities afforded a diversification of its cultural programme This analysis allows to sustain that the learned groups that occupied the institutional leadership during these years were part of a cultural modernisation offensive that was founded on a shared representation of their social role and of the function assigned to the knowledge that was considered legitimate. Their initiatives were, in addition, guided by a pedagogic will of cultural dissemination based on the construction of an institutional network in which the association itself played a central role. In this manner, the configuration of urban geopolitics and the definition of differentiated cultural centers and peripheries were favoured. El presente artículo propone examinar las actividades de promoción y de divulgación cultural llevadas adelante por la Asociación Bernardino Rivadavia de la localidad bonaerense de Bahía Blanca entre 1882, momento de su fundación, y 1930, cuando el traslado a su sede definitiva y la ampliación de sus instalaciones supuso la posibilidad de diversificar las propuestas de extensión. Este análisis permite sostener que los grupos letrados que ocuparon la dirigencia institucional durante esos años formaron parte de una ofensiva modernizadora en materia cultural que se fundamentó en una representación compartida de su rol social y de la función atribuida a los saberes considerados legítimos. Sus iniciativas estuvieron, además, guiadas por una voluntad pedagógica de propagación del conocimiento que se asentó sobre la construcción de una red institucional en la cual ella misma ocupaba el lugar central. De esta manera, se favoreció la configuración de una geopolítica urbana donde se definían centros y periferias culturales diferenciados.
