Government and Police documents are lodged in archives and deposits with different material and institutional difficulties that nonetheless pose broad possibilities for inquiring in the specific forms of transgression and punishment. This paper goes through the archives of the city of Santa Fe with the goal of contributing to the study of the problem of order from the critical perspective of social history. With that aim, we describe documents located in the Archivo General, the Archivo del Servicio Penitenciario and of the archives of the provincial pólice. La ciudad de Santa Fe es aún un campo de vacancia para la historiografía del delito y del castigo, de la policía y del problema del orden, que se ocupa de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX y primera del XX en Argentina. Sin embargo, ello no se debe a la ausencia de fuentes documentales. Situadas en archivos, repositorios y depósitos que presentan realidades materiales e institucionales diversas, las fuentes gubernamentales y policiales brindan amplias posibilidades de indagar en las formas específicas en que se definieron y delimitaron las transgresiones al orden y las formas de su castigo. Este trabajo recorre los archivos y repositorios de la ciudad de Santa Fe, con el fin de contribuir al análisis de la cuestión del orden desde la perspectiva crítica de la historia social. Para ello, se describen documentos policiales y gubernamentales alojados en el Archivo General, el Archivos del Servicio Penitenciario y de la Policía de la Provincia de Santa Fe.
