Its starting point dates from fieldwork conducted by the author with a group of women who live and / or work in two districts northwest of the city of Rosario. Hold the main objective of this work to rescue the meanings and conceptions of poverty from a gender perspective, emphasizing the interpretations that build women on different social relations living, both within their families and in the community. To do this, I went diving in the commonness of these women, their lifestyles, their wishes and initiatives. El presente artículo intenta aportar conocimientos desde un abordaje antropológico con perspectiva de género, sobre la problemática de la pobreza urbana. Su punto de partida data del trabajo de campo realizado por la autora con un grupo de mujeres que viven y/o trabajan en dos barrios del noroeste de la ciudad de Rosario, Argentina: Unidos y Solidaridad. El enfoque local/barrial ha contribuido a una mejor comprensión de nuestra temática al permitir estudiar los contextos espaciales en los que residen los grupos de personas en situación de pobreza. Esto nos ha posibilitado reflejar la heterogeneidad del fenómeno y precisar las necesidades de la población. Sostengo como objetivo principal de este trabajo el rescate de las significaciones y concepciones de la pobreza desde una perspectiva de género, haciendo hincapié en las interpretaciones que construyen las mujeres sobre las distintas relaciones sociales que viven, tanto al interior de sus familias como en la comunidad. Para ello, se ha buceado en la cotidianidad de estas mujeres, en sus modos de vida, sus deseos e iniciativas.
