In this article, we consider the magazine as a caricature, as it built a reality exacerbating some traits over others. We stop in the study of the weekly in 1912, key in the transition from a notable politics a mass in Argentina moment, trying to glimpse the intertextuality between word and image-present throughout caricature is possible to trace in this publication miscellany. El semanario argentino Caras y Caretas constituye un extraordinario acervo documental para el estudio de la realidad finisecular decimonónica y las primeras décadas del siglo XX. Se trató de una publicación inspirada en los magazines europeos que, con rotundo éxito, abordó un amplio abanico de temas. En sus páginas, proliferaron los tradicionales textos con un sinnúmero de imágenes que le dieron su impronta y lo posicionaron entre un público cada vez más amplio, ávido de las novedades del país y del mundo. En este artículo, consideramos a la revista como una caricatura, pues construyó una realidad exacerbando algunos rasgos en desmedro de otros. Nos detenemos en el estudio del semanario en el año 1912, momento clave en la transición de una política de notables a una de masas en Argentina, procurando vislumbrar la intertextualidad entre palabra e imagen que –presente en toda caricatura- es posible rastrear en esta publicación miscelánea.
