A partir del reconocimiento de los principales aportes de Gastón Doucet, este estudio propone una nueva lectura de la Visita a las encomiendas de la gobernación del Tucumán realizada por el oidor de la Audiencia de Charcas don Antonio Martinez Lujan de Vargas, centrando la mirada en Córdoba con el objetivo de reconstruir el estado de situación de los indígenas encomendados en relación con el derecho a las tierras de comunidad, para luego ofrecer un análisis sobre la ejecución de las sentencias del visitador que otorgaron y crearon nuevos derechos sobre las tierras a los pueblos de indios de la jurisdicción.
