We recover the different types of exactions imposed on the peoples aforementioned, and the political relations in which they were inserted, that influenced both abandoning their villages and their subsequent return. Because Gastón Doucet, recently deceased, strongly recommended us to consult the main sources of information and indicated its location, in this article we want to remember him and express our affection and recognition for his regular and generous contributions. Para responder a nuestra pregunta original, sobre porqué la población indígena originaria de Casabindo y Cochinoca crece notablemente entre 1654 y 1688 mientras se daba una disminución de las poblaciones andinas similares, analizaremos toda la historia de sus relaciones con sus encomenderos y los españoles en general. Recuperaremos los distintos tipos de exacciones a las que fueron sometidos y las relaciones políticas donde se insertaban, las que influyeron tanto en el abandono de sus pueblos como en su posterior retorno. Como Gastón Doucet, recientemente fallecido, fue quien nos recomendó enfáticamente consultar las principales fuentes de información y nos indicó su localización, en este texto deseamos recordarlo y expresar nuestro afecto y reconocimiento a sus habituales y generosos aportes.
