Usually, there is a very specific image of British individuals in the Brazilian social imaginary. It is in part constructed by themselves but also preserved by a historiography that tended to discuss characters that played a visible role in politics, economy, the production of knowledge etc., never bringing to light, until quite recently, and still causing surprise, the presence of more humble English men and women, particularly in the condition of immigrants. Therefore, oriented by the concepts of representation, identity, memory and imaginary, the discussion presents a synthesis of selected articles published on the subject in the last 10 to 15 years. Este texto presenta los resultados parciales de un estudio guiado por el objetivo de verificar si en otras regiones de Brasil, así como de las provincias de Paraná, Santa Catarina y Sao Paulo se formaron colonias agrícolas con la presencia de inmigrantes británicos. Por lo general, en el imaginario social brasileño, el inglés corresponde a una determinada imagen, construida por ellos y, en cierta medida verificada por la historiografía que tendía a contemplar personajes que han desempeñado un papel destacado en la política, la economía, la producción de conocimientos, etc., y, hasta hace muy poco, relegado casi al olvido, e incluso provocando sorpresa, la presencia del Inglés más humildes y las mujeres, especialmente en la condición de inmigrantes. En este sentido, la discusión, es guiada por los conceptos teóricos de representación, identidad, memoria e imaginación y se presenta como una síntesis de artículos publicados en los últimos 10 a 15 años. Este texto apresenta o resultado parcial de uma pesquisa orientada pelo objetivo de verificar se em outras regiões do Brasil, além das províncias do Paraná, Santa Catarina e São Paulo, havia colônias agrícolas com a presença de imigrantes britânicos. Geralmente, há uma imagem muito específico de indivíduos britânicos no imaginário social brasileiro, em parte construída por si, mas também preservado por uma historiografia que tendiam a discutir personagens que desempenharam um papel visível na política, na economia, a produção de conhecimento etc., nunca trazer à luz, até muito recentemente, e ainda causa surpresa, a presença de homens ingleses mais humildes e as mulheres, em particular na condição de imigrantes. Portanto, orientada pelos conceitos de representação, identidade, memória e imaginário, a discussão apresenta uma síntese dos artigos selecionados sobre o tema publicados nos últimos 10 a 15 anos.
