This idea can be applied to the construing of the regions; that is, film discourse is also part of this construing. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the representations of the economic activities in movies filmed in Patagonia by the Argentinean film industry between 1985 and 2006. To wonder how the economic activities are represented allows us to ask ourselves whether the films express the region’s historicity or, on the contrary, show a mythicized region. The films under analysis help us understand how the forms of neoliberalism in Patagonia have been thought of and felt. That is, the films are part of the memory and identities that are construed in/for the region. Para la Historia, el cine importa porque es parte de la intervención de las relaciones simbólicas sobre las relaciones concretas. Esta noción puede aplicarse a la conformación de las regiones en el sentido de que también los discursos fílmicos forman parte de su construcción. El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar las representaciones de las actividades económicas en las películas filmadas en Patagonia por la cinematografía argentina en el período que va desde 1985 al 2006. Preguntarse cómo son representadas las actividades económicas permite pensar si las películas expresan la historicidad de la región, o si, por el contrario, nos muestran una región mitificada. Los films analizados sirven para entender cómo han sido pensadas y sentidas las formas que adquirió el neoliberalismo en Patagonia. Es decir, los films forman parte de las memorias e identidades que se construyen en/para la región.
