This article deals with the process, especially the way it was performed and overlapping internal and external mechanisms for forge its, not only reduced the imposition, but an entire repertoire of actions from co-option was the use of violent means, through a range of other media. Los orígenes del neoliberalismo sudamericano, en especial los casos de Argentina, Brasil y Chile donde nos centramos, están asociados a la emergencia de un particular tipo de institución, los institutos de estudios económicos, por medio de los cuales muchas de las ideas y prácticas que lo compondrían germinaron y ganaron impulso, debido a la imbricación de ideas, no solo económicas, intereses materiales y poder político. El presente artículo aborda ese proceso, en especial la forma en que se realizó tal imbricación y los mecanismos internos y externos para fraguarlas, no reducidos apenas a la imposición, sino a todo un repertorio de acciones que fue desde la cooptación al empleo de medios violentos, pasando por toda una gama de otros medios.
