| Sumario: | The present work aims to reconstruct the way in which the phenomena of self-segregation of the most exalted sectors of society and the suburbanization of their residential patterns were modulated. To approach this problem, the city of Neuquén is used as a witness case. A medium-term view is implemented, from which three moments are clearly identifiable, namely: 1) the prehistory of closed urbanizations (1981-1995), 2) a phase marked by the first -although significant- attempts to scale the phenomenon (1996-2005); and, finally, 3) a take-off stage in which the riverside environment and irrigated oases tended to be commodified (2006-2017). In methodological terms, this work adopts a mixed strategy sustained in the intensive use of different types of sources, among which legislative documentation, municipal statistical information, scientific literature and thematic cartographies elaborated from Geographic Information Systems stand out. |
