Sumario:This article aims to distinguish the characteristicsof the different mining institutions and competences in theviceroyalties of the Río de la Plata and New Spain, on the basisof mining legislation. e sub-delegates will be analyzed as miningjudges in the two viceroyalties to evaluate the competences theyexercised, and the problems arising from the fact that they sharedjurisdiction and faculties with the mining deputies. I will alsoanalyze the reasons why The Ordinances of the Mines of NewSpain of 1783 was not introduced in the Viceroyalty of Río de LaPlata, apart from the exceptional cases of Salta and Córdoba delTucumán.
