The provincialization of the National Territory, the organization of the new province in 1951 and the creation of the Provincial University in 1958 were part of a process that had mutual influences and interdependencies. In this framework, the objective of this study is to analyze the intellectual positions on the region wielded by academics involved in the process of creating the local university and its articulations with the regional social and political context.   En las provincias de creación más reciente, como La Pampa, la universidad ha sido clave para entender los procesos de emergencia y consolidación estatal. La provincialización del Territorio Nacional, la organización de la nueva provincia en 1951 y la creación de la Universidad Provincial en 1958 formaron parte de un proceso que tuvo influencias e interdependencias mutuas.
