It is argued that the participation of La Rioja in the Congress should be understood as part of the interest of its ruling elite in the development of the Famatina mining company and the minting of coins. These projects were not only associated with personal profit, but also with the possibility of making the province viable. Se analiza la posición de La Rioja en el Congreso de Buenos Aires de 1824 teniendo en cuenta su situación inicial como provincia subalterna hasta 1820. Se estudian las características de la representación de sus diputados y las causas del cambio de facción. Se sostiene que la participación de La Rioja en el Congreso debe entenderse como parte del interés de su élite dirigente en el desarrollo de la empresa minera del cerro del Famatina y en la acuñación de moneda. Estos proyectos no solo estaban asociados a la obtención de ganancias personales, sino también a la posibilidad de hacer viable la provincia. Analisa-se a posição de La Rioja no Congresso de Buenos Aires de 1824, levando em conta sua situação inicial como província subordinada até 1820. Estuda-se as características da representação de seus deputados e as causas da mudança de facção. Defende-se que a participação de La Rioja no Congresso deve ser entendida como parte do interesse de sua elite dirigente no desenvolvimento da empresa mineira do cerro del Famatina e na cunhagem de moeda. Esses projetos não estavam associados apenas à obtenção de ganhos pessoais, mas também à possibilidade de viabilizar a província.
