National constitutional rights altered the place of younger social strata within the social fabric and their relationship with local and national public authorities. Specifically, we will examine the public services provided by young people living in the towns of the province of Buenos Aires, which underpinned the political and institutional dynamics and the material reproduction of these towns. El propósito del presente artículo es analizar el destacado rol que desempeñaron los jóvenes (jurídicamente definidos como menores de edad) en la construcción de las instituciones provinciales y nacionales del siglo XIX y principios del XX. Los derechos constitucionales nacionales alteraron el lugar que tenían los estratos más jóvenes en el entramado social y su vinculación con los poderes públicos locales y nacionales. Puntualmente, indagaremos en las cargas públicas asumidas por los jóvenes domiciliados en los pueblos de la provincia de Buenos Aires, que dieron sustento a las dinámicas político-institucionales y a la reproducción material de los pueblos. O objetivo deste artigo é analisar o papel de destaque que os jovens (legalmente definidos como menores de idade) desempenharam na construção das instituições provinciais e nacionais do século XIX e início do século XX. Os direitos constitucionais nacionais alteraram o lugar que as camadas mais jovens ocupavam na estrutura social e sua ligação com os poderes públicos locais e nacionais. Especificamente, investigaremos os cargos públicos assumidos pelos jovens residentes nas cidades da província de Buenos Aires, que sustentavam as dinâmicas político-institucionais e a reprodução material das cidades.
