Their biographies show the traces of their progressive Jewish background and their yearning to build a new socialist society in Latin America. The work offers a counterpoint to the leftist Zionism that migrated to Israel, to build socialism within the frameworks of its collectivity.Considering the hegemonic narrative that has naturalized the idea that Jewishness and Zionism are equivalent, this work reveals the existence of other Jewish identities –atheist, communist and revolutionary– in the specific Cuban case. Este artículo traza el perfil de seis jóvenes comunistas de origen judío comprometidos con la Revolución cubana durante los años 60. Sus biografías exponen las huellas de su formación judeo-progresista y el anhelo de construir una nueva sociedad socialista en América Latina. El trabajo ofrece un contrapunto con el sionismo de izquierda que migró a Israel, a construir el socialismo en los marcos de su colectividad. Considerando la narrativa hegemónica que ha naturalizado la idea de que judaísmo y sionismo son equivalentes, aquí se devela la existencia de otras identidades judías –ateas, comunistas y revolucionarias– en el específico caso cubano. Este artigo traça o perfil de seis jovens comunistas de origem judaica comprometidos com a Revolução Cubana durante a década de 1960. Suas biografias expõem os traços de suas origens judaico-progressistas e seu anseio de construir uma nova sociedade socialista na América Latina. A obra oferece um contraponto ao sionismo de esquerda que migrou para Israel, para construir o socialismo dentro das estruturas de sua coletividade. Considerando a narrativa hegemônica que naturalizou a ideia de que judaísmo e sionismo são equivalentes, ela revela a existência de outras identidades judaicas - ateia, comunista e revolucionária - no caso específico de Cuba.
