Aspects such as the establishment of the Levant Route to the Philippines, the corsair activity on the coasts of Angola, the English Invasions of the River Plate, or the capture and transfer of Hispanic prisoners to the Cape. This relevant role began to be felt in the first half of the 18th century and reached its peak during the second half and early years of the 19th century. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar los diferentes aspectos del rol que comienza a desarrollar el ámbito geográfico de África austral en general y la colonia de Ciudad del Cabo en particular en la estrategia imperial de la Monarquía Hispánica. Aspectos como el establecimiento de la Ruta de Levante a Filipinas, la actividad corsaria rioplatense en las costas de Angola, las Invasiones Inglesas del Río de la Plata, o la captura y traslado de prisioneros hispanos al Cabo. Este papel relevante comienza a intuirse en la primera mitad del siglo XVIII y alcanza su apogeo durante la segunda mitad y los primeros años del siglo XIX. O objetivo deste artigo é analisar os diferentes aspectos do papel que a área geográfica do sul da África, em geral, e a colônia da Cidade do Cabo, em particular, começaram a desempenhar na estratégia imperial da monarquia espanhola. Aspectos como o estabelecimento da Rota do Levante para as Filipinas, a atividade corsária na costa de Angola, as invasões inglesas do Rio da Prata ou a captura e transferência de prisioneiros espanhóis para o Cabo. Esse importante papel começou a ser sentido na primeira metade do século XVIII e atingiu seu auge durante a segunda metade e os primeiros anos do século XIX.
