After a series of alliances and failures in the first decades of the 18th century, the towns of Juemia and Chaquenodá were founded in 1724, along with a real de minas. However, the profile of these towns would be affected by the gold, the climate, the distance, and the foundation procedure: they were both integrated into the monarchy and outside the guarantees it offered.   Este artículo propone un acercamiento a las fundaciones de pueblos de indios en una frontera aurífera del noroccidente del Nuevo Reino de Granada: el valle de Murrí, en la provincia de Antioquia. Tras una serie de alianzas y fracasos en las primeras décadas del siglo XVIII, serían fundados los pueblos de Juemia y Chaquenodá, con real de minas, en 1724. Pero el oro, el clima, la distancia y el procedimiento según el cual se fundaban los pueblos, tendrían una incidencia en el perfil de los pueblos fundados, tanto integrados a la monarquía, como ajenos a las garantías que esta ofrecía. Este artigo propõe uma abordagem às fundações das cidades indígenas numa fronteira aurífera no noroeste do Império Novo de Granada: o vale de Murrí, na província de Antioquia. Após uma série de alianças e fracassos nas primeiras décadas do século XVIII, as cidades de Juemia e Chaquenodá seriam fundadas, com verdadeiras minas, em 1724. Mas o ouro, o clima, a distância e o procedimento segundo o qual as cidades fossem vilas fundadas , teria impacto no perfil das vilas fundadas, tanto integradas na monarquia como fora das garantias que esta oferecia.
