Sumario:This article explores a series of conflicts over the nature of collective bargaining agreements that were settled in the labor courts in the years immediately prior to the enactment of the 1953 collective agreements law. Through the use of court records and legal works, this research reconstructs the practices and strategies undertaken by workers, employers and administrative officials, showing the ways in which judges, through their rulings, paved the way for the enactment of the law.
