The objective of this article is to analyze, based on the consultations of the Council of the Indies and the network of relations of Vega y Padilla, whether his links with members of the Council, especially with Juan de Solorzano Pereira, determined his election as bishop in the aforementioned period. This would demonstrate the importance of the relational networks in the careers and appointments of ecclesiastics in cathedrals and episcopates of the Indies. Feliciano de Vega y Padilla, prebendado limeño y arzobispo de la ciudad de México tuvo una promoción eclesiástica considerable en episcopados indianos entre 1630 y 1640. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar a partir de las consultas del Consejo de Indias y la red de relaciones de Vega y Padilla, si sus vínculos con integrantes del dicho Consejo, en especial con Juan de Solorzano Pereira, determinaron su elección como obispo en el periodo mencionado, lo cual demuestra la importancia de las tramas relacionales en las carreras y nombramientos de eclesiásticos en catedrales y episcopados de las Indias. Feliciano de Vega y Padilla, prebendário de Lima e arcebispo da Cidade do México teve considerável promoção eclesiástica nos episcopados indígenas entre 1630 e 1640. O objetivo deste artigo é analisar a partir das consultas ao Conselho das Índias e a rede de relações de Vega e Padilla, se seus vínculos com membros do referido Conselho, especialmente Juan de Solorzano Pereira, determinaram sua eleição como bispo no referido período, o que demonstra a importância das tramas relacionais nas carreiras e nomeações dos eclesiásticos nas catedrais e episcopados das Índias.
