The article analyzes in a comparative way the assertions supported by the Italian, Spanish or American political bodies to justify the legitimacy of a direct communication (overcoming the mediation of viceroys, governors, councils or audiences) between the subjects and the monarch. These justifications emphasize the importance of this practice of representation within the integration process and the government system of diverse territories of the Monarchy under the Habsburgs kings.
