Through the analysis of unpublished documents, of judicial origin, we seek to provide some new information, relational or geographical, which allow either to question the constructed genealogy of Vasco de Quiroga or to qualify what the researchers asserted about a naturally dark period such as the early years of this character, so known on the other hand thank to his foundation of the pueblos-hospitales for the protection of the Natives in New Spain. El presente trabajo se propone abrir nuevos interrogantes respecto de la vida de Vasco de Quiroga (1470?-1565), oidor de la Segunda Audiencia de México y Obispo de Michoacán, anterior a su llegada al continente americano. Mediante el análisis de documentos inéditos, de procedencia judicial, se procura aportar datos de índole relacional o geográfica que permiten cuestionar la genealogía construida o bien matizar aquello que los investigadores han conseguido poner de manifiesto sobre un período de por sí oscuro en la vida de este personaje, en otro sentido tan famoso por haber fundado en Nueva España los pueblos-hospitales para la protección de los indios.
