description In May 1988, a group of theater actors satirically performed a police raid outside the gates of the 18th High School in Montevideo. A frequent modality of police control over youth, the raids did not have major critical repercussions in public opinion. However, the performance had an unexpected impact when the young high school students panicked. The media coverage brought the practice of raids into the public eye for the first time, in a process that would eventually end with its cancellation by the government. This article describes the practice of raids, presents the trajectory of the Red de Teatro Barrial (RdTB) and its way of functioning, reconstructs the event in front of High School 18 based on newspaper articles and interprets this coverage as an attack on the youth expressions during the post-dictatorship. Finally, it presents the success achieved by the group as the result of a series of actions borrowed from anarchism.
