description Ricardo Carpani's representations are still unavoidable references in militant graphics today. Its workers of burly bodies demanding their rights in strikes and demonstrations became, from the ‘60s, recurring in the rebellious visual discourse. While his previous production deserved many reconstructions and interpretations, this paper focuses on a lesser-known period of the Argentinean artist, analyzing the time span that extends from a set of collective initiatives in support of revolutionary processes to his activism against dictatorships during his European exile. Considering a diversity of sources from archives located in Latin America and Europe, this article aims to show that the transformation of his work during this stage of his career expresses his militant reconversion in that historical process, the result of the change of era, the cultural context and the social imaginaries evoked. This paper allows us to propose a reflection on the social perception of the political role of art in this global turning moment.

This paper allows us to propose a reflection on the social perception of the political role of art in this global turning moment.
