However, as it happens allover South America, there are many graduate students who choose to continue studying in order to obtain a specialist degree, as a means to become more knowledgeable, gain professional status and increase their income. This study aims to compare the UNR’s anesthesiology residency/training program to the ones being employed in Europe. Using the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC) survey, a descriptive research was performed. After the comparison, there were identified similarities between both training programs. Setting these side by side is crucial to recognize strength and weaknesses of each program. This analysis may help optimizing resources and develop a more efficient approach for the training of professional Anaesthesiology trainees. En Argentina, el título de grado médico habilita para ejercer la profesión. Sin embargo, al igual que en el resto de Latinoamérica, muchos profesionales eligen seguir formándose para obtener el título de Especialista, para ampliar sus conocimientos, mejorar su reputación profesional y aumentar sus ingresos. El objetivo de este estudio es comparar el programa de formación de anestesiólogos de la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de la UNR con los diseños actuales de formación en anestesia a lo largo de Europa. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo tomando como base la encuesta desarrollada por el comité de residentes de la European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC). De la comparación realizada, se identificaron aspectos comunes a los programas de formación implementados en Europa. Comparar las distintas realidades en la formación de la especialidad de anestesiología es crucial para identificar fortalezas y debilidades en los programas existentes. Este análisis puede ayudar a optimizar los recursos disponibles y a desarrollar un enfoque más eficaz para la formación de los profesionales en esta área crítica de la medicina.
