El manuscrito hace referencia a los acontecimientos más salientes que se fueron dando a lo largo del siglo XX, gestados por un grupo de investigadores británicos, cuyos desarrollos y aportes le dieron un gran espaldarazo a la epidemiología; la cual desde una mirada originalmente descriptiva pasó a alcanzar un notable componente analítico. Logros que a su vez han incidido favorablemente sobre otros campos disciplinares fomentando la realización de investigaciones clínicas aplicadas con gran impacto en salud humana.
