Sumario:This article examines the interrelationship between the public debt of states in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and the human right to education. It is theoretically framed within the process of financialisation, which refers to the increased influence of actors and logics of the financial sector in the economy, and how this can affect different social aspects, including access to education. Through a comparative analysis, it highlights the challenges faced by Latin American states in guaranteeing the right to education in a context of growing indebtedness. It also highlights possible alternative strategies and policies that could allow for a balance between debt obligations and the fulfilment of human rights, such as the implementation of fairer and more progressive fiscal policies.
