This article analyses how this phenomenon affects state work -specially within national agencies and other agencies within the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires- during the first three months of isolation. The article examines the effects of isolation on three different aspects of state work. First, we focus on the internal organization of bureaucracies, in terms of the hierarchical and functional divisions of roles and activities. Second, we analyze effects on the symbolic dimension of state authority, given the breakdown of the habits, instruments and scenes of officiality. Finally, we describe how the interface with society (or social mediations) were important to make effective massive and presumably automated cash transfers. El aislamiento social, preventivo y obligatorio (ASPO) como respuesta a la COVID-19 implicó múltiples desafíos para el Estado argentino en sus distintas áreas y jurisdicciones. Quienes forman parte de las agencias vinculadas con asistencia inmediata se enfrentaron durante la cuarentena con un fenómeno inédito: atender demandas minimizando la presencialidad. Este artículo reconstruye las reconversiones del trabajo socio-asistencial del Estado en organismos de nivel nacional y del área metropolitana de Buenos Aires durante los primeros tres meses de aislamiento. El desarrollo se concentra en los efectos que este tuvo sobre tres aspectos del trabajo estatal. Primero, sobre la organización interna del trabajo de asistencia, en términos de las divisiones jerárquicas y funcionales de roles y actividades. Segundo, sobre la dimensión simbólica de la autoridad estatal frente a la ruptura de los hábitos, instrumentos y escenas de oficialidad. Finalmente, sobre la interfaz con la sociedad, esto es, sobre las mediaciones sociales que canalizaron la asistencia en el marco de transferencias masivas y presuntamente automatizadas.
